Expelled The Movie

January 3rd, 2008 5 Comments

Ben Stein, one of my favorite people on this planet, has put together a new documentary set for release this February. It challenges the imperialism of academia and how free speech does not exist in the realms of science and education. I’m sure I’ll have a great deal more to say about this movie, but for now, go see for yourself. It is Expelled: No Intelligence allowed.

Update: An individual is commenting on this article with a clear agenda to speak out against Expelled.  If you search for the username, you can find out a great deal more.  Since this is evidently not a comment spam attack, I’m leaving these comments in tact to allow all sides to have their say.

WASHINGTON — The National Academy of Sciences (NAS) and Institute of Medicine (IOM) today released SCIENCE, EVOLUTION, AND CREATIONISM, a book designed to give the public a comprehensive and up-to-date picture of the current scientific understanding of evolution and its importance in the science classroom.

Ben Stein’s political propaganda film will present a rather different side of this question.

They offer to “bribe” schools to bring their kids:

But hurry to register – there’s a limited amount of bribe money. Last come – not served.

“how free speech does not exist in the realms of science and education”

Which is, of course, a lie.

  4. Lee Picton Says:

For those of you who just might possibly have missed it, as it is a source of hilarity all over the internet: the account by PZ Myers about being EXPELLED from a showing of the movie in which he appeared, while the theater let in Richard Dawkins, who was apparently unrecognized! Rather like confiscating a pop gun while giving a pass to an AK-47, don’t you think?

  5. Moo Says:

Is Ben Stiller a biologist? Or even a scientist? Does he have a PhD? Masters? Or even a BACHELORS in any science field?

As of now, intelligent design has not been accepted anywhere in the world. Including the US, where 75% of the population are Christians. There are other nations filled with Christians in Europe as well. Ben Stein must think there’s a global conspiracy against ID.

    Or there’s a better explaination

Intelligent Design has no proof. Science needs proof.

Evolution has yielded applications in understandings of pathogens, immune systems, bacteria, etc.

Aside from emotional relief, name a single application ID has bought. A single scientific prediction. A good scientific theory is known for its predictive powers. DNA observations are made all the time using evolutionary theory.

So one field is well researched by people, which include Christians, has predictive capabilities, and bought applications.

And the other “field” has done nothing.
